Our window is finally back to it’s original glory after the accident of 20th November last year. We’re very happy to be able to sit there and take in the view…

PS for anyone who hasn’t heard the story, a drunk driver being chased by police crashed through our front window leaving a trail of debris and damage to repair and clean up – but fortunately no injured people.

Freshly Baked Cakes

Our cakes are not very fancy or elaborately decorated but we make them all ourselves and bake them fresh every day. Choose from straightforward chocolate cake, carrot and banana cake, lemon drizzle or our tiffin-style slices – and there’s usually a ‘guest’ cake. Coffee and Walnut, Ginger, Raspberry Frangipane and Blueberry and Sour Cream have all made appearances.

If you’re looking for a venue to celebrate a special event with family and friends why not take advantage of our lovely first floor dining room. We can seat up to around 35 people upstairs so there’s plenty of room for birthdays, anniversaries and the like.  Choose from our seasonal set menu or ask Jean-Paul for a menu to suit your own tastes.

Wednesday to Saturday evenings only, prices from £20.50 per person. Pre-orders required.

All-time favourite dishes

Top of the list has to be our Gratin Dauphinois, the classic French potato, cream, garlic and cheese dish. We think some of our customers would have this even without the accompanying steak or duck!

Another big favourite is the Savoury Crepe, filled with tomatoes, ham, onions, mushrooms and the French staples of cream and cheese and served with a lovely chef’s salad.

Talking of salad, over the years many customers have asked for Jean-Paul’s recipe for vinaigrette and at one point our chef was wondering whether to mass produce it!

All our desserts are made on the premises and the pastry is just delicious. Lemon or strawberry tarts with a trickle of pouring cream are always a real treat as is the chocolate crepe with flambéed bananas

Sometimes though the simplest dishes are the best and poached eggs on toast is always a top seller, along with the very British Welsh Rarebit or a traditional cooked breakfast.
